The United States of America is one of the most sought after destination by international students. It has one of the finest educational institutes in the world with outstanding programs in virtually all fields. US universities and colleges pride themselves on being on the forefront of technology and educational techniques, and in making available the best possible equipment and resources to their students. There are more than 4900 accredited colleges and universities in the US.

One of the best features of universities and colleges in US is the flexibility of choices of courses. The bachelor's degree typically takes four years to complete. The associate degree usually takes two years to complete. The degree is offered after you complete a specified number of credits. There is also an option for students to move between one institution and another.

International students are some of the most valued researchers and teachers in U.S. universities because they bring new skill and ideas to the classroom and laboratory. Many graduate programs in the United States offer training that enables students to become teaching or research assistants.

There are 2 major intakes in most universities and colleges in US during September and January. It takes a long time (around 8-12 months) for an entire application procedure and hence the student should plan and start the procedure well in advance to avoid any inconvenience.

Steps to study in America

-          Depending upon the course that a student opts for, one needs to take GRE/GMAT/SAT.

-          The SAT score is used to make the admission decisions for undergraduate applicants.

-          The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is required by all US Business Schools for admissions into a Management program. Some universities may waive the GMAT score if the student has extensive work experience.

-          The Graduate Record Exam (GRE) is for students who wish to pursue Master's program (except a management programme) in the U.S.

-          All international students whose native language is not English need to provide a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score

-          Based on your qualifications/work experience, aptitude and career goals, our counselors will access the eligibility of the applicant to secure an admission and student visa. If the applicant is found eligible, the entire admission and visa process will be explained in detail after which an applicant may apply for admission.

-          Once you shortlist the courses and the universities (ensure that your university/school is SEVP-Certified), you will need to complete the application form along with the required documents and apply for an admission.

-          You will receive a Letter of Offer (conditional/unconditional), you need to accept it and fulfill the required criteria (as required) to procure your I-20 from the university/school.

-          Proper submission of Form I-20 along with its fees, and receiving its receipt is required to enable you to apply for a student visa

-          There are 3 types of visas issued to Students:

a)       F1 (Student Visa) - This is the most common visa for students who intend to study in an accredited US College or University.

b)       M1 (Student Visa) - This visa is issued for short-term programs for students who will be engaged in non-academic or vocational study or training such as associate or diploma courses at any US institute.

c)        J1 (Exchange Visitor) - The “J” visa is issued to students to participate in education and cultural exchange visitor programs in US.

-          Understand the visa regulations and prepare a proper file. Submit the file along with the required fees to book an appointment with the US Embassy - which most students find to be a daunting experience. We do provide first hand advice on the possible questions that could be asked by a visa officer and how to answer them confidently.

-          Once your visa is granted, you just need to make your travel arrangements and fly to fulfill your dreams to.
