Canada Education System:

Canada is considered a world leader in quality education. It spends more per capita on education than any other country in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). The cost of living in Canada is also remarkably low.

The provinces and the territories in Canada exercise complete jurisdiction over the education system in Canada. In keeping with the national commitment to education, public education in Canada is free up to and including secondary school in all the provinces. At the post-secondary level, institutions are divided into community colleges and universities.

Post Secondary level education is offered by four types of educational institutes:

i)                     Universities

ii)                   University Colleges

iii)                  Community Colleges/ Technical Institutes

iv)                  Career Colleges

The tuition fees is comparatively much lower than other competing countries as most of the universities are public funded. Also students can be rest assured of the high quality education in a broad range of courses.

The academic year usually begins in September and ends in May. It is normally divided into 2 semesters. Some institutes do have a trimester system and therefore offer multiple intakes in January, May and/or September.

Only a limited number of specialized courses/programs may be available during the summer session that commences in May.

Steps to study in Canada:

-          Based on your qualifications/work experience, aptitude and career goals, our counselors will access the eligibility of the applicant to secure an admission and student visa. If the applicant is found eligible, the entire admission and visa process will be explained in detail after which an applicant may apply for admission.

-          Many universities in Canada require you to take one of the standardized tests like GMAT, GRE along with English Proficiency tests like IELTS, TOEFL or TWE.

-          Also a candidate will have to appear for GRE while seeking admission in any Graduate Course in any field (except Management courses) and GMAT scores are required for most management courses.

-          Once you receive your test results and the same is dispatched to your short-listed universities, you need to fill the application forms, attach all the required supporting documents and send it to the universities. Universities may charge an application fee.

-          On receiving Offer Letter, pay partial fee to confirm seat in the program and get Letter of Acceptance and receipt.

-          After receiving the above, send all required documents to the Canadian High Commission along with application fee. You may have to appear for an interview with a Canadian Visa Officer.

-          Each applicant and his accompanying partner/dependent will have to appear for a medical test upon receiving instructions from the Canadian High Commission.

-          If the applicant is found suitable and medically fit, he/she is issued a Visa and you need to prepare to fly to Canada and fulfill your dreams.
